ELECTROTHERAPY – is a field of physiotherapy that uses direct current, modulated medium frequency currents, and low and medium frequency pulsed currents for therapeutic purposes. The therapeutic effect of the current aims to relieve pain by improving the nourishment and blood circulation of the stimulated tissues, increasing the absorption of edema and exudates, thereby accelerating tissue regeneration processes.

Galvanization

Galvanization* – is an electrotherapy treatment involving the flow of direct current through a specific part of the body. It has a soothing effect on sensory nerves (pain-relieving effect) and stimulates motor nerves.

Indications: neuralgia, degenerative joint diseases and spinal joint diseases, peripheral circulation disorders.

Contraindications: skin lesions, cancer, acute coronary insufficiency.

Iontophoresis

Iontophoresis* (galvanization + medication) – involves introducing a specific medicinal substance into the tissues through the skin using direct current. It has analgesic, anti-inflammatory, and antirheumatic effects.

Indications: inflammation of joints and tendon sheaths, pain syndromes of various etiologies, delayed bone healing, scars and scar contractures, inflammatory conditions of the skin and soft tissues, tissue blood flow disorders, neuralgia, and nerve injuries.

Contraindications: skin lesions, cancer, acute coronary insufficiency.

Diadynamic currents

Diadynamic currents (DD) – also known as Bernard currents. They are divided into several types, differing in frequency and alternating current intensity. They improve blood circulation and tissue nutrition, reduce swelling, and depending on the current used, cause an increase or decrease in muscle tone.

Indications: spinal pain syndromes, rheumatic diseases, neuralgia, post-traumatic conditions, muscle atrophy, shingles, post-traumatic edema, frostbite.

Contraindications: implanted pacemaker, purulent skin lesions, acute inflammations in the treatment area, cancer diseases, hemorrhages, febrile conditions.

Muscle contraction and regeneration

Currents interference

Interference currents (Nemeca) – these are medium-frequency currents amplitude-modulated at a low frequency. By rhythmically changing frequency, they act on skeletal muscle contractions, stimulating muscles to contract (improving peripheral circulation), providing analgesic effects, enhancing tissue nutrition processes, and metabolism.

Indications: pain syndromes, edema, urinary incontinence, disorders of superficial and deep circulation, degenerative joint disease and spinal joint disease, sciatica, brachial neuralgia, intercostal neuralgia.

TENS

TENS – transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation with low-frequency currents. TENS electrostimulation is a clinically proven, non-invasive, non-pharmacological pain therapy. It is widely used for relieving both chronic and acute pain.

Indications: postoperative pain, discopathy, headaches, pain associated with rheumatic diseases, neuropathies, skin ulcers, wounds, swelling.

Contraindications: implanted pacemaker, severe arrhythmia, epilepsy, cancer, pregnancy, acute inflammation near the treatment area, purulent skin lesions.

Electrostimulation

Electrostimulation* – this is a treatment using direct pulsed current and medium frequency current. The purpose of the treatment is to stimulate muscles to contract. Electrostimulation is performed on paralyzed muscles (with damaged nerves that conduct impulses) as well as healthy muscles to strengthen them or improve peripheral circulation.

Indications: paresis, atrophy, muscle weakness, conditions after muscle paralysis or after removing a bandage, neuromuscular system diseases.

Contraindications: purulent skin inflammations, epilepsy, pregnancy, implanted pacemaker, atherosclerosis, cancer, venous thrombosis.

Deep muscle training

Kotz currents

Kotza currents – these are medium-frequency currents used for electrostimulation of weakened (properly innervated) muscles to increase their mass and strength, as well as a warming-up training for deeply located muscles. They improve metabolism and reduce muscle tension, providing pain relief in the stimulation area.

Indications: prolonged muscle immobilization, post-fracture conditions, flat feet, muscle weakness.

Contraindications: purulent skin lesions, implanted pacemaker, cancerous disease, pregnancy, spastic paralysis, acute inflammatory states in the area of the procedure.

Relief in neuralgia

Trebert currents

Trebert currents – this is an ultrastimulating current with a strong analgesic effect. It causes strong muscle tremors, resulting in muscle relaxation. This treatment is also called electrical stimulation massage. Through the effect of Trebert currents on the nervous system, reflex improvement of blood circulation and tissue nourishment is achieved, also in cases of peripheral circulation disorders.

The treatment is used for: neuralgia, ischemic limb syndromes, support in the treatment of slow-healing wounds.

Galvanomud therapy

Galvanobalneotherapy* – this is a treatment that uses peat in combination with galvanic direct current, which causes better oxygenation and nourishment of cells, accelerating anti-inflammatory effects. Heating with peat increases metabolism and blood flow in deep muscles, joints, and surrounding tissues, reduces pain, relaxes tensions, and increases muscle elasticity and joint mobility. The organic components contained in peat have anti-inflammatory, astringent, irritative, bactericidal, and antiviral effects. This results in rapid disappearance or significant reduction of pain, increased spine mobility, normalization of paraspinal muscle tension, and dilation of blood vessels due to the direct stimulating effect of the current on the vessels (muscle and nerve excitability increase under the cathode and decrease under the anode – analgesic effect).

Indications: degeneration of the spine and joints, discopathy, post-traumatic movement organ diseases, joint contractures, rheumatic muscle diseases, chronic inflammation of nerves, plexuses, and nerve roots, impaired healing of bone fractures.

Contraindications: all acute and subacute inflammatory conditions, circulatory and respiratory failure, hypertension and anemia, vascular diseases, especially atherosclerosis and thrombophlebitis, diabetes, elevated body temperature regardless of cause, tendency to bleeding and bruising, trophic and inflammatory skin disorders, sensory disturbances, purulent inflammatory conditions of the skin and soft tissues.

LASER THERAPY* – treatment with a low-energy biostimulatory laser is a modern physical method involving the delivery of energy in the form of light to a selected area of the human body. It acts directly on tissue processes without damaging them. Biostimulation uses laser radiation in the infrared and red range, as it penetrates deepest into tissues. Heat for muscles and skin

SOLLUX

SOLLUX – a phototherapeutic treatment that uses infrared radiation emitted through one of the filters – red or blue. The red filter is used in the treatment of soft tissue inflammation, acceleration of effusion resorption, treatment of skin damage and poorly healing wounds, muscle pain, reduction of muscle tension (especially before massage or kinesitherapy exercises). The blue filter is used for pain relief, in post-traumatic conditions, and neuralgia.

ULTRASOUND

ULTRASOUND* – during the treatment, mechanical vibrations with a frequency of 800-24000 kHz are used. The primary effect of ultrasound on tissues is a mechanical action called "micromassage," caused by pressure fluctuations in the sound wave. A very important component of their effect is also the influence on tissue biochemistry, leading to better oxygenation. The result is an analgesic effect, reducing muscle tension, inhibiting inflammatory processes, and dilating blood vessels.

INHALATIONS

INHALATIONS* – are a method of preventing and supporting the treatment of many respiratory tract diseases, which involves inhaling diluted saline (oil or medication) sprayed as an aerosol. Inhaling the aerosol causes moisturizing of the respiratory tract, thinning of mucus, and allows easier expectoration, as well as normalizing the secretory functions of the mucous membrane. It also strengthens the immune forces of the mucous membrane. The use of inhalations is recommended in cases of upper and lower respiratory tract diseases.
